Yogyakarta, April 8, 2026 -The English Department of the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences (FADIB), Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, welcomed a delegation from Ufa University of Science and Technology (UUST), Russia, for a visiting lecturer program and an initial academic collaboration meeting on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. The activities took place from morning until afternoon and involved the faculty board, heads and secretaries of study programs, lecturers, and students within FADIB UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

The UUST delegation consisted of Grigorieva Tatyana as Head of the Higher School of Russian Philology, Bakiev Andrey as Associate Professor of the Department of Lingvodidactics and Translation Studies, Kaleeva Anastasia as Assistant of the Department of Modern Russian Linguistics, Kamalov Rinat as Associate Professor of the Department of Lingvodidactics and Translation Studies, Mustafina Guzel as Assistant of the Department of Modern Russian Linguistics, Mufazzalov Dmitrii as Deputy Head of the Education Development Department, Gainullina Gulsina as Associate Professor of the Department of Tatar Philology and Culture, and Belov Mikhail, a first-year student majoring in Chemistry.

The delegation was officially welcomed by the deanery of FADIB UIN Sunan Kalijaga along with all heads and secretaries of study programs within the faculty, including the English Department. Following the welcoming remarks from the faculty representatives, the delegates proceeded to their respective departments, including English, Arabic Language and Literature, and Islamic History and Culture.

At the English Department, Mustafina Guzel and Belov Mikhail delivered a presentation in Room 306 on the third floor of FADIB UIN Sunan Kalijaga before approximately 80 students from the 2024 cohort. They introduced the city of Ufa in Russia, the profile of UUST, and various scholarship opportunities available for international students. The session was lively and interactive. Students of the English Department enthusiastically participated in the discussion and raised various questions related to the presentation materials.

The academic session lasted for approximately 90 minutes under the supervision of the Head of the English Department, Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari, with academic assistance provided by the department’s liaison officer, Saffanatussa’idiyyah.

At 12.00 p.m., the UUST delegation continued their agenda by visiting the Central Administration Building (PAU) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga for a luncheon and an official meeting with the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, and the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Istiningsih. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Jarot Wahyudi from FADIB UIN Sunan Kalijaga, who accompanied the delegation, representatives from the International Office, namely Dr. Witriani and Aninda Aji Siwi, M.Pd., as well as Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari.

The meeting took place in a warm and supportive atmosphere with discussions focusing on strengthening academic relations between the two universities. Topics included opportunities for research collaboration, student exchanges, visiting lecturer programs, and the development of future international academic initiatives.

The meeting was also attended online via Zoom by Rita Faritovna Filippova, Vice Rector for International Cooperation of UUST Russia, who joined directly from Russia. The visit marked an important initial step for the English Department of UIN Sunan Kalijaga in expanding its international academic network with Ufa University of Science and Technology. (URS/HFS)
