Academic Text Translation Course for English Literature Students of UIN Sunan Kalijaga 2025
Academic Text Translation Training of English Literature Study Program was conducted online.
Yogyakarta – The English Literature Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, held an Academic Text Translation Training from Monday, September 29, 2025, to Friday, October 10, 2025. This program was conducted online via the Zoom platform and featured professional trainers from the translation partner institution MMC Lingua, PT. Creative Mandiri.
The training, divided into five sessions, was held every morning from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The two trainers who accompanied the participants during the training were Ivo Novitasari, M.Hum., and Surya Asra, M.Hum., both of whom are experienced practitioners in the field of academic translation. The material presented not only covered techniques and strategies for translating academic texts, but also introduced the concept of linguapreneurship as a professional development opportunity for students.
The focus on linguapreneurship in this training not only broadens participants' knowledge about career opportunities in translation, but also provides them with the opportunity to venture into entrepreneurship through the field of translation. This approach is considered highly relevant to current market needs, which require graduates to be adaptable and ready to compete not only nationally, but also internationally.
The Head of the English Literature Study Program said that this training is aimed at improving the competence of students, especially those in their seventh semester who are currently writing their thesis. Through this program, students are expected to gain translation skills that can support their studies and prepare them for the demands of the workforce.
With the implementation of this program, the English Literature Study Program hopes to strengthen the graduates' profiles so that they become competent, professional, and globally competitive. The translation skills acquired are expected to be an important asset for students in entering the workforce and developing their entrepreneurial potential in the field of language and translation.
