Dean of FADIB UIN Sunan Kalijaga Supports Anisah Durrotul Fajri’s Preparation for Doctoral Study in Hiroshima, Japan

As part of her preparation for pursuing doctoral studies, Anisah Durrotul Fajri, S.S., M.Hum., accompanied by Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the English Literature Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences (FADIB), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, met with Prof. Dr. Nurdin Laugu, M.A., Dean of FADIB UIN Sunan Kalijaga, on September 24, 2026, at the Dean’s office.
The meeting was part of Anisah’s academic mobility preparation for pursuing doctoral studies in Hiroshima, Japan, with a focus on linguistics. During the meeting, Anisah presented her plans for further study and sought guidance, advice, prayers and blessings, as well as permission to undertake the various stages of preparation for her doctoral studies.
During the meeting, Anisah received guidance from the Dean regarding academic preparation and various matters that need to be considered while undertaking her studies abroad. Support from the faculty is an important part of preparing for further study, ensuring that the process runs smoothly while also supporting the development of academic and scholarly capacity.
Prof. Dr. Nurdin Laugu, M.A., expressed his full support for Anisah’s plans to pursue further study, including the academic mobility undertaken as part of her preparation. Doctoral study in Hiroshima is expected to provide Anisah with an opportunity to deepen her expertise in linguistics, broaden her academic perspective and international network, and gain experience that can contribute to the advancement of education and scholarship at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
In his guidance, the Dean encouraged Anisah to remain focused on undertaking and completing her doctoral studies to the best of her ability. Upon completing her doctoral education, Anisah is expected to return to Indonesia and continue her service as a civil servant lecturer at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the English Literature Study Program, also expressed her support for Anisah’s decision to pursue doctoral education. The academic mobility is expected not only to enhance Anisah’s academic competencies but also to strengthen the scholarly capacity of lecturers and the contribution of the English Literature Study Program, particularly in the field of linguistics.
Anisah’s plan to pursue doctoral studies in Hiroshima is part of the effort to develop academic human resources while strengthening the international outlook of the academic community at FADIB UIN Sunan Kalijaga. With the support of the faculty and study program, Anisah is expected to successfully complete the preparation and her doctoral studies, and ultimately return to Indonesia to contribute to the advancement of academia in the country.
