LPPM of UIN SuKa Socializes “KKN Konversi” and “Keris” in FADIB’s Faculty Work Meeting

In Faculty Work Meeting of the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences (FADIB) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, attended by the Dean, Vice Deans 1, 2, and 3 of FADIB, as well as the Heads and Secretaries of the English Literature, History of Culture and Islam, Arabic Language and Literature, Library Science, Master in Arabic Language and Literature, and Master in Islamic Civilization History programs, on Tuesday, June 20, 2022, at 10:00 AM (Western Indonesia Time) the Research and Community Service Institution (LPPM) of UIN Suka participated in the socialization of the “KKN Konversi” (Programs eligible for conversion into community service-learning credits submission) for UIN SuKa students and the research program to fulfil preparation for national accreditation.

As part of meeting one of the requirements for program accreditation preparation, the LPPM will facilitate the establishment of research groups, known as "keris," in each program, following the technical guidelines set by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. Regarding the KKN Conversion program, the LPPM UIN SuKa informed that the guidelines for KKN can be accessed through the link https://lppm.uin-suka.ac.id/id/dokumen/index/15 and then click on number 25 or through the link https://lppm.uin-suka.ac.id/id/pengumuman/detail/3042/panduan-pkm-tematik-kemitraan-kkn-konversi.

“KKN Konversi” in this context refers to a community service program conducted in partnership with thematic collaboration. The purpose of “KKN Konversi” is to provide guidance to students in easily proposing community service programs that can be converted into KKN credits, as well as to increase the participation of UIN Sunan Kalijaga's academic community in community service programs.

In general, it can be informed that the allocation of community service time should be equivalent to 4 credits, with at least 1 credit requiring a minimum of 4-5 hours per week. The effective working hours are calculated as follows: 4 credits x 4 hours per week x 16 face-to-face meetings, which totals 256 hours. If the working hours are allocated over a 45-day period of community service implementation in the field, then 256 hours divided by 45 days equals approximately 6 working hours per day. The timeline for the implementation of these activities should be indicated in the proposal and report.

For “KKN Konversi”, a minimum of 2 study programs should participate, with 10-12 student personnels. Field supervisors can be determined from the respective study programs that proposed the “KKN Konversi” activities.

The registration requirements for “KKN Konversi” are the same as those for regular KKN registration. Students must register for KKN and follow the registration procedures. Students submit a proposal for the KKN conversion activities to the LPPM, which must be accompanied by approval from all program chairs of the participating students. Subsequently, the students await the announcement regarding the acceptance or rejection of their proposal for the KKN conversion.

During this socialization, LPPM UIN Suka, represented by Dr. Adib Sofia, S.S., M.Hum., Ir. Trio Yonathan Teja Kusuma, S.T., M.T., IPM., and Achmad Zainal Arifin, M.A., Ph.D., also provided a case example. There was a student who actively participated in social community activities at the national level outside the campus as part of their community service. The student then submitted it to LPPM as his ”KKN Konversi”. In this case, LPPM UIN SuKa accepted and approved it because the student genuinely engaged in activities that aligned with the criteria set by LPPM UIN SuKa. Although it was only one student from UIN SuKa, the consideration from LPPM was that the student worked within a larger team, operating at a national scale.

To obtain detailed information about the KKN (community service) program for students, as well as research opportunities for lecturers and students at UIN SuKa, LPPM has provided guidance through the LPPM UIN SuKa website and a WhatsApp contact for inquiries during office hours, from Monday to Thursday, 07:30 AM to 04:00 PM, and on Fridays, 07:30 AM to 04:30 PM (Western Indonesia Time).
