Learning TOEFL with Joy and Happiness

Students Evaluation in TOEFL Score Upgrading Program
English Literature Program, Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, this year has completed the TOEFL training program to help students improve their TOEFL scores and enhance their overall language skills such as listening, reading, speaking, and writing. This program is intended for students of the 2020 batch (6th semester) and is regularly conducted every year.
Laiyinatus Syifa, Z.N., S. Hum., M.Pd, commonly known as Miss Nana, one of the teachers, stated, "Success in learning a language requires a benchmark, and TOEFL is one of the benchmarks to measure English language proficiency, which needs to be prepared for."
In addition, another teacher, Fahrurrazi, S.Hum., MA, added, "Learning TOEFL is not just about improving scores but also about learning English comprehensively, as all the materials in TOEFL summarize English language materials from the beginning to the end of the semester."
Together with another teacher, including Fitria Yuliana, S.S., they prepared the materials professionally, as they have extensive experience related to TOEFL. Despite the short duration of the training, which consisted of five sessions with a duration of 120 minutes each (June 5, 2023, to June 22, 2023), the teachers had prepared well with enjoyable materials.
The students were highly active, happy, and enthusiastic in participating in the training. They even mentioned that the program was highly effective, as expressed by Rahmah, one of the participants. "This program has been very helpful in recalling previous materials, which are very useful when solving TOEFL questions. Short courses like this feel more effective compared to long courses, as long courses tend to be boring," Rahmah stated.
Based on a brief questionnaire given to them, the students were very pleased with the class and had a good understanding of the materials. Naya, who was also a participant, stated that the program's materials were enjoyable and not difficult. (f/lszn/urs/hfs)
