In Indonesia, there is a phenomenon of mixing Indonesian and English so-called Jaksel English. This phenomenon has been happening for a long time, especially in the South Jakarta area. Therefore, the speaking style of mixing these two languages is not something strange anymore but has become something commonly used in that area. This language style is not only popular among South Jakartans, but it's also quite popular among Indonesian celebrities as well as state officials such as former presidents SBY, Sandiaga Uno, and Sri Mulyani on various occasions. This language style generally inserts English vocabulary such as; which is, literally, even, at least, and so on in speaking Indonesian. According to a language observer, Ivan Lanin, this phenomenon is something normal. In fact, according to him, this is included in the realm of linguistic studies, so-called code-mixing.

Language style mixing two languages is not something new in Indonesia. It's because long before, the Indonesian people were familiar with this language style where they mixed Indonesian with one of the local languages when speaking. For example, Indonesian with Javanese or Indonesian with Sundanese. Overall, it may be said that this phenomenon is not a new phenomenon but the common one.
