Raising from the concerns of English Literature students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta about what career paths they could pursue after graduating from college, the 2020 batch of English Literature students held a workshop entitled Career Kaleidoscope: Illuminating Your Path to Professional Fulfillment. This workshop was held at the UIN Convention Hall building on Thursday, 22 June 2023 at 08.00. Several alumni of English Literature were invited as speakers at the workshop this time, namely Muhammad Primastri Jati, a local brand activist as well as the CEO of Jari Manis Jewelry, and Alviana Puja Dewantri as the UGM CRCS working scholarship awardee.
This workshop itself was held by students from batch 2020 who took the Linguapreneurship Course under the guidance of its lecturer, Laiyinatus Shifa Z.N S.Hum., M.Pd. The Head of the English Literature Study Program, Ulyati Retno Sari, S.S., M.Hum. said in her remarks that this elective course in the English Literature Study Program is specifically for English Literature students to be able to broaden their knowledge of the workplace which is not only related to their major but also current market needs relating to the technological developments and human resources.
Kak Puja, one of the speakers, conveyed that several scholarship opportunities are widely provided for English Literature students who wish to pursue a master's degree. She also added that these scholarships can be obtained through education and work scholarships owned by CRCS (Center for Religious and Cross-Cultural Studies) UGM. Meanwhile, Kak Jati provides a lot of knowledge and shares information related to the business world that English Literature students can work on.
Therefore, it is hoped that this workshop can provide broader insights to English Literature students regarding the world of work after graduation and also the opportunity to continue their studies further through existing work or educational scholarships. This workshop is the first workshop for Linguapreneurship, and it is hoped that there will be many interesting workshops for English Literature students. (lszn/urs/hfs)
