English Literature Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (UIN), collaborated in a Teaching Indonesian for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam. USSH is one of the leading universities in Vietnam, located at 10-12 Đinh Tiên Hoàng, Sài Gòn Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

On this occasion, UIN Sunan Kalijaga lecturer Aninda Aji Siwi, S.Pd., M.Pd., together with a student, Hani Azfariza, collaborated with a student of Gadjah Mada University, Aisya Syabili, in teaching Indonesian as a foreign language at USSH Vietnam. The program was held on May 6 and 9, 2024, with themes adjusted to the respective learning levels.

On May 6, 2024, the teaching team delivered material for BIPA Level A1 with the topic “Learning Indonesian Through Cuisine.” Through this theme, USSH students were introduced to simple vocabulary and expressions in Indonesian within the context of traditional Indonesian cuisine. The activity was met with great enthusiasm from USSH students, as shown by their attentiveness during the lectures and their active participation in the discussion sessions. Their excitement grew even further when they not only learned the language but also had the opportunity to taste authentic Indonesian dishes brought to Vietnam.

On May 9, 2024, the program continued with BIPA Level B1, carrying the theme “Where to Go in Indonesia.” In this session, participants explored various tourist destinations in Indonesia while practicing Indonesian at an intermediate level. The students were invited to “travel around Indonesia” through interactive activities prepared by the teaching team. The classroom atmosphere became even more lively during the question-and-answer session, as reflected in the numerous questions raised by the students, particularly about the Indonesian tourist destinations introduced in the lesson.
