English Literature Student Earns Prestigious Achievement in Artistic Pencak Silat

Yogyakarta - A student of the English Literature Program has once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment in non-academic activities. Sima Natakinda, an active student and member of UKM Cepedi, successfully won a gold medal in the artistic pencak silat category at a pencak silat championship held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Faculty of Sports Science, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, from October 17 to 19, 2025.

This victory marks Sima’s first gold medal in the artistic silat category and further adds to her growing list of achievements. Previously, she had earned several silver and bronze medals in artistic silat, as well as a gold medal in the sparring category, demonstrating her consistency and dedication to the sport.

“I am very happy to be able to make the university, especially the English Literature Program, proud. This championship is the result of consistent training, the support of my coach, and encouragement from my teammates,” Sima said gratefully.

Throughout the competition, Sima delivered an impressive performance marked by well-developed technique, strong rhythm, and agile movements. Her performance not only captivated the judges but also brought honor to the English Literature Program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

Through this achievement, Sima hopes to continue developing her skills and to inspire other students to pursue excellence in any field they are passionate about, both academic and non-academic. The English Literature Program has expressed its appreciation and support for students who enhance the university’s reputation through talent and dedication.

This achievement demonstrates that academic excellence can coexist with non-academic success, producing students who are well-rounded, competitive, and accomplished. (VKU/DPF/HFS)
