Representatives of the English Literature Study Program Attend an International Symposium at Kirikkale University, Turkey

Dr. Witriani, M.Hum, a lecturer from the English Literature StudyProgram, along with two lecturers from the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Studies at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Prof. Pribadi and Dr. Jarot Wahyudi, attended the invitation to the International Symposium on The Practice of Coexistence in Islamic Culture at Kirikkale University, Turkey, from October 5-7, 2023.

On this occasion, Dr. Witriani presented a paper titled "Women in the Circle of Evil, a Study of Horror Movies in Indonesia." This symposium is a realization of collaboration between Kirikkale University, the University of Azerbaijan, and the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Studies at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This symposium at Kirikkale University is the second of its kind, following the first symposium held in Azerbaijan in 2022.

More than 100 academics from 14 countries and universities attended this second symposium and presented their papers. The diverse thoughts and ideas presented all converged on the point that the future of humanity will be brighter if it is based on a shared awareness of coexistence. Peace will be achieved when everyone collaborates and helps one another. Any religion teaches its followers to work together in building a civilized world, so that humanity can prosper, mature in dealing with differences, show mutual respect, and acknowledge each other's existence.

As a follow-up to the first and second symposiums, the symposium is planned to be held at UIN Sunan Kalijaga in 2024. Through the organization of this symposium, it is hoped that the ideas of academics from various universities and institutions can materialize into real action, contributing to the creation of a more prosperous future for the civilization of humanity.
