The Bonding Night of English Literature Class of 2023: Unity in Diversity
The Bonding Night of English Literature Study Program Class of 2023 at Binakarya, Piyungan, Bantul, Yogyakarta
The students of English Literature UIN Sunan Kalijaga, class of 2022, organized a bonding night attended by the students of English Literature class of 2023 on October 6th to 7th, 2023, at Binakarya Homestay, Piyungan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. This event was held as an effort by the English Literature students to strengthen bonds, unite differences, and build solidarity among classes and diverse backgrounds. Additionally, the event aimed to introduce the new English Literature students to the environment and the intricacies of studying in the English Literature Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
The bonding night began with warm speeches from the representative of the Academic Advisory Lecturers for the class of 2023, Bambang Hariyanto S.S., M.A., Ph.D. Several faculty members were also present, including Ulyati Retno Sari, M.Hum, the Head of the English Literature Study Program, and Dr. Ubaidillah, M.Hum, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs. Furthermore, the event featured a talk show with Mbak Yuli, the Chairwoman of the Student Association of English Literature (HMPS SI) for the 2019 period, who is also an awardee of the LPDP PK-209 scholarship. Through this talk show, new students were expected to gain motivation and enthusiasm for their future studies. Participants were also engaged in fun and educational games such as guessing English idioms, word guessing, and other exciting games.
The selection of class president and vice president, as well as the creation of the class name, took place towards the end of the bonding night, emphasizing the importance of a unifying platform for English Literature students. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to meet with the daily management members of HMPS SI to get acquainted with the organization and its programs. This introduction aimed to spark the interest of students in organizations, particularly HMPS SI, which offers organizational experience related to the development of the English Literature Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
