In implementing the collaboration between the Faculty Adab and Cultural Sciences (FADIB) UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Faculty of Cultural Sciences and Communication (FIBK) Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, lecturer and Head of English Literature Department UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari M.Hum held a public lecture titled Narratology: Introduction & Analysis at Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto as it aimed to broaden the insight of English Literature students of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto about narratology. This event began at 09.00 am in a classroom and began with welcome speech by the Vice Rector I for Academic and Cooperation of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto, Mr. Saefurrohman, Ph.D. and continued to the main session, the presentation of public lecture material.

In the main session, Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari M.Hum gave an introduction to narratology. Through this, she explained the basic concepts of narratology and how to analyze a literary work. The presentation was listened to thoroughly by students of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto who attended the public lecture in the morning. After the material was delivered, students were divided into several groups for discussion. They were asked to apply the theory of narratology they have learnt to literary works they had read or watched. This discussion aimed to ensure student’s understanding of the material presented. After the discussion, one of the groups was asked to present their work in front of the class.

After the main session was done, the series of events was closed with a photo session with the speakers, Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari M.Hum, the Dean of FIBK Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, Dr. Widya Nirmalawati, S.S., M.A., the Vice Dean of FIBK, Fitri Rakhmawati, S.S., M.Pd., and all participants.
