The Cooperation Between English Literature Study Program Of Uin Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta And Padjadjaran University
The Implementation of the MBKM Collaboration of the English Literature Study Program at Padjadjaran University.
On September 23–25, 2025, the English Literature Study Program team from UIN Sunan Kalijaga, consisting of Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari, Dr. Witriani, Dr. Arif Budiman, Bambang Hariyanto, Ph.D., and Aninda Aji Siwi, M.Pd., conducted an official visit to the English Literature Study Program at Padjadjaran University (UNPAD), located at Jalan Raya Bandung–Sumedang Km 21, Jatinangor, Sumedang. This visit was part of the implementation of the MBKM collaboration among members of the English Studies Association in Indonesia (ESAI).
On the first day, the program began with an opening ceremony that included the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, the Padjadjaran University anthem, and the UIN Sunan Kalijaga anthem. The ceremony was followed by remarks from Vice Dean I of FIB UNPAD, Dr. Lina Meilinawati Rahayu, S.S., M.Hum.; Head of the English Literature Study Program at UNPAD, Dr. Ari J. Adipurwawidjana, M.A.; and Head of the English Literature Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari, M.Hum. After the opening session, the agenda continued with OBE-based curriculum benchmarking and coordination on research and community service initiatives. During the benchmarking session, Dr. Ari J. Adipurwawidjana presented the structure of the UNPAD English Literature curriculum, which is organized around four main focus areas: English language proficiency, translation proficiency, linguistic enhancement, and literary studies.
The event continued on Tuesday, September 24, 2025, with a guest lecture held at the Japanese Language Study Center Hall, FIB UNPAD. Two lecturers from UIN Sunan Kalijaga participated as speakers: Bambang Hariyanto, Ph.D., who discussed elements of humor in the religious speeches of KH. Said Aqil Siradj and Gus Baha, and Dr. Witriani, who presented a paper on the representation of women in Indonesian horror films and its socio-cultural implications. The sessions were conducted in two parts, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
On the final day, Wednesday, September 25, 2025, the program concluded with an ESAI Member Coordination Meeting, which resulted in several key agreements to be jointly followed up. Both parties agreed to strengthen collaboration in various areas, including the organization of guest lectures (both offline and online), joint research and academic publications, and collaboration in thesis examinations, where lecturers from each study program may serve as external examiners. In addition, both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in community service activities, such as mentoring and supporting student organization programs, such as the English Literature Student Association (HMPS SI).
Through this event, it is expected that closer cooperation will be fostered between the English Literature Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Padjadjaran University. The collaboration in education, research, and community service is anticipated to contribute to the advancement of language and literature studies in Indonesia, while also strengthening the ESAI network and supporting the implementation of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.
