Putri Khaleida Zahra, a student of the English Literature Study Program (class of 2023) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, has achieved a remarkable accomplishment by winning 3rd Best Presenter at the International Seminar on Literature and Linguistics (ISoLLing) 2026.
The international seminar, organized by the Faculty of Cultural and Communication Sciences at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, was held online via Zoom on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. It carried the theme "Beyond the Textbook: Using Children's Literature to Foster Deep Learning and Global Citizenship in the Climate Change Era."
The event featured six prominent keynote speakers: Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fauzan, M.Pd. (Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Indonesia), Dr. Murti Bunanta, S.S., M.A. (President of the Indonesian Board on Books for Young People), Dr. Myra Garces-Bacsal (National University of Singapore), Prof. Dr. Md. Mahmudul Hasan (International Islamic University Malaysia), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sharifah Aishah Osman (Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur), and Sulasih Nurhayati, S.S., M.Hum. from Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto as the host institution.
During the seminar, Putri Khaleida Zahra presented a paper titled "Interpersonal Mood Metaphors in Indonesian Quran Translation: A Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) Perspective" to all participants and was selected as one of the three best presenters. This achievement demonstrates the ability of UIN Sunan Kalijaga's English Literature students to deliver material in a comprehensive, systematic, and communicative manner before participants from various countries.
Putri admitted that she felt nervous presenting in front of academics and lecturers from various institutions, but she maintained her confidence throughout the presentation. That confidence paid off, as she was selected as one of the three best presenters. She also shared that the seminar provided her with a wealth of new knowledge and insights gained from the presentations of other participants.
Putri's achievement is hoped to serve as inspiration and motivation for UIN Sunan Kalijaga's English Literature students to continue developing themselves and excelling both at the national and international levels. (SNJ)
