Bandung, August 11, 2026 — Head of the English Literature Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari, S.S., M.Hum., conducted a monitoring visit on the implementation of the student internship program at the West Java Provincial Language Center (Balai Bahasa Provinsi Jawa Barat) on Tuesday (11/08/2026).
The visit was officially received by the Head of the West Java Provincial Language Center, Dr. Herawati, S.S., M.A., accompanied by the Head of the General Sub-division, Akhmad Susanto, S.E., and Junior Human Resources Analyst, Ita Nurvita, S.E.
This monitoring activity reflects the English Literature Study Program's commitment to ensuring the effective execution of the internship program while providing mentorship to students as they gain valuable learning experiences in a professional work environment.
During the meeting, Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari engaged in discussions with representatives from the West Java Provincial Language Center and the interning students regarding the ongoing activities. The discussion encompassed student experiences within the workplace, the various tasks performed, as well as the overall learning process and competency development achieved throughout the program.
Direct monitoring also served as an opportunity for the study program to gather feedback from partner institutions regarding student performance. This constructive input plays a vital role in evaluating and developing the internship program to ensure its continued relevance to both academic competencies and industry needs.
Beyond monitoring student performance, the visit provided a key momentum to strengthen communication and institutional relations between the English Literature Study Program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga and the West Java Provincial Language Center. This synergy is expected to further evolve, not only through internship programs but also in supporting academic learning, student competency development, literacy initiatives, and other joint academic endeavors.
One of the participating interns, Sofi Mayla Firdaus, has been actively engaged in various professional assignments during the internship. Her responsibilities include conducting background research and material preparation for Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) broadcasts, drafting scripts for RRI programs, and assisting in the creation of literacy content.
Additionally, Sofi served as an organizing committee member for an educational mentoring activity involving students from SD Negeri 035 Soka, Bandung, facilitating storybook reading sessions as part of the implementation of Regional Contextual Literacy. This direct engagement offered valuable field experience in supporting literacy initiatives while interacting with primary education environments.
The diverse tasks completed during the internship provide students with practical opportunities to cultivate competencies relevant to the field of English Literature, particularly in professional writing, material research, scriptwriting, content management, communication, and community literacy engagement. These hands-on experiences are expected to reinforce students' academic and professional capabilities as they prepare to enter the workforce.
Through this monitoring visit and internship program, the English Literature Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga continuously strives to ensure that students gain meaningful and career-relevant work experiences, while fostering professional, academic, and practical skills aligned with current industry demands.
