The English Literature Study Program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta successfully held its annual gathering event, known as Malam Keakraban (Makrab), under the theme of Litcamp 2026 at Wisma Kaliurang, located on the slopes of Mount Merapi. Held on October 3–4, 2026, the event was attended by first-year students of the 2026 cohort and organized with the support of student committee members from the 2025 cohort.

Litcamp 2026 was organized as an initiative to foster closer relationships, strengthen a sense of belonging, and build solidarity among English Literature students. Throughout the event, students from the 2025 cohort served as both committee members and facilitators, coordinating and assisting with the entire series of activities.

The participants and committee members departed for the venue at approximately 7:00 a.m. Upon arriving at Wisma Kaliurang, the first-year students spent the afternoon preparing various performances for the evening's talent show.

As night fell, the atmosphere became increasingly lively and welcoming as the main Litcamp gathering session began after the Isha prayer. A total of ten groups from the 2026 cohort presented performances featuring a variety of creative and innovative ideas. These performances provided an opportunity for students to express their creativity while fostering teamwork and camaraderie among participants.

The talent show was also attended by the Head of the English Literature Study Program, Dr. Ulyati Retno Sari, S.S., M.Hum. In her remarks, she expressed her hope that activities such as Litcamp would continue to be held and further developed. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining this tradition as a means of strengthening bonds of friendship and solidarity among different student cohorts within the study program. The evening's activities concluded at approximately 11:00 p.m. in a joyful atmosphere.

The excitement continued on the second day. Participants started the morning with group exercise and breakfast, followed by a series of intergroup competitions. These activities encouraged students to develop teamwork, strengthen group cohesion, and cultivate a greater sense of togetherness before returning to campus.

Through the successful organization of Litcamp 2026, it is hoped that the sense of belonging and solidarity among English Literature students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga will continue to grow. Furthermore, the event is expected to contribute to creating a harmonious, inclusive, and supportive academic environment for the entire academic community. (MF)
